The Basics of Financial Management for Small-Community Utilities: A Webcast on Financial Management (Part 2)
The Basics of Financial Management for Small-community Utilities: A webcast on financial management (Part 2 of 2) from RCAP on Vimeo.
A recorded webcast that is a companion to RCAP’s The Basics of Financial Management for Small-community Utilities. The printed guide, the main piece in the family of resources on financial management, is a how-to guide that provides an overview of financial management for small-community drinking water or wastewater utilities, from developing and balancing an expense budget to estimating and collecting revenue. This primer is ideal for a board member of a utility who needs to understand the financial aspects of a utility’s operations. The guide explains in very simple, easy-to-understand terms how to read and interpret the common financial statements so more informed decisions can be made with the information that can be gained from them.
This webinar features two RCAP field staff members who are experts in helping utilities manage their finances. They walk through the guide in a workshop-style presentation, using a PowerPoint presentation containing additional video explanations by others who speak about their experience and expertise in financial management. The two trainers help users of the print version of the guide better understand the concepts presented and explain many of the more challenging segments of the guidebook. Ideal for those with little or no financial-management experience but who need to understand something about it in order to make informed decisions:
- an individual, such as a leader of a utility or mayor, to watch alone
- a group, such as the board or governing body of a utility, to watch together
