New EPA video on WARNs in action

September 30, 2013 | General RCAP News

EPA has developed a new video to increase water-sector awareness of the Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (WARN) initiative and attract new members to existing WARNs. Titled “WARNs in Action,” the video illustrates the types of events in which the mutual aid networks have been utilized and emphasizes the importance of water-sector coordination during an emergency.  Interviews with WARN representatives provide detail on particular benefits of WARN, explaining how the programs have reduced response time and saved utilities money during emergencies.

There are two other videos on WARN:

  • “Background on the WARN Initiative” is targeted to non-WARN members and response partners unfamiliar with WARN. The video describes how WARN programs were started, the current status of WARNs across the United States, and the benefits of joining a WARN.
  • “WARN Tabletop Exercises” targets existing WARN members and uses footage from actual tabletop exercises. The video describes the benefits of tabletop exercises, discusses key issues and lessons learned from previous exercises, and encourages participation in tabletop exercises.

All videos can be found on the EPA Office of Water’s Mutual Aid and Assistance webpage under the WARN Home and Tabletop Exercises tabs.
